Stolen? Check a number

Want to buy a used bicycle, e-bike, scooter, motorbike or car? Enter the frame number or VIN. We'll tell you whether it has been reported stolen in ValueDoc.

What you see, and what you don't

You only see whether the number has been reported, since which month, the type and the brand. No names, no email address, no location. There is deliberately no list of all reports. The check only works with the full number.

“Not reported” doesn't mean a vehicle is clean. ValueDoc only knows reports from its users. Police search data is not public.

Has something been stolen from you?

  1. Police: report the theft, with frame number or VIN, photos and proof of purchase. You'll need the case number for your insurer.
  2. Insurance: inform your home contents or bike insurer quickly.
  3. ValueDoc: in the vehicle's book, tap “Stolen? Report here” at the bottom. From then on, anyone who checks the number sees the report. Tips from finders reach you by email.

With a well-kept digital service book you have the number, photos and receipts ready straight away.
